Paddle Reviews

Both Prolite and Pickleball Central have been very helpful to our group. Prolite has provided multiple demo paddle for members to try, and Pickleball Central is now doing something similar.  There is nothing that replaces actually trying a paddle before buying it, and we are fortunate to now have demo paddles and support from both companies. When you decide to purchase equipment, please support these companies as they have supported us. And remember that club members receive discounts from both companies!

The Riley Newman Signature GAMMA 206 Pickleball Paddle is a great lightweight paddle weighing in at 8 ounces. It is very balanced in regard to power without any loss of control and it felt comfortable from the first time I used it. The paddle has an extended length of 16 3/8 inches…creating a larger sweet spot. The handle length of 5 ¼ inches is great for the two-handed player and to reach out for wide balls. The GAMMA Honeycomb Cushion Grip provided a non-slip tackiness for greater control and comfort. The 3rd shot drop seemed to be easier and the dinks seemed more controllable allowing for cross court accuracy. The shots from the transition area are easier to control and the paddle gives a solid volley at the net. The 206 Paddle improved my spin shots utilizing the composite surface. I have tried many different paddles in the past and in my opinion, the 206 has definitely become a leader in all categories. The Lindsey Newman Signature Havoc Pickleball Paddle is a lightweight paddle featuring NeuCore technology from GAMMA. The paddle is well balanced and is great for power shots without any loss of control. The GAMMA Honeycomb Cushion Grip provides a non-slip tacky surface which feels comfortable and adds to greater control. The design of the paddle allows for a larger sweet spot. The handle length (5 ¼ inches) is great for reaching out for the wide balls and a definite plus for the two-handed player. The 3rd drop shot can be accomplished with more precision and dinks seem to be more accurate with placement. Contacting the ball at the different areas of the transition zone made for more accurate shots to the opponent’s weakness. Volleying at the kitchen line was solid and made the punch shot more accurate. Spin shots are easy to make and it doesn’t take much effort to hit a drive down the middle. This paddle has surpassed my previous paddles with quality, weight, length and feel. It is definitely my choice of go-to paddle. The Sheboygan County Pickleball Club (SCPC) would like to thank Pickleball Central for providing the demo paddle for this review.

RADICAL HEAD PICKLEBALL PADDLE by Diane Lambert

This is a great lightweight, well balanced paddle. It weighs 7.9 oz. which means it feels light in your hands. The slightly extended paddle (16 inches) gives the player a bit more reach for those balls hit just a bit farther to his/her right or left then preferred.
The handle is extremely comfortable with a tacky feel so it doesn’t feel loose in your hand. The paddle I used fit me perfectly with approximately 4 ¼ grip size. It immediately felt like part of my hand, soft and comfortable. There’s a really nice pop off the face with the carbon hitting surface, but a lot of control as well. Spin shots are easy to make and it doesn’t take much effort to hit a drive down the middle, good smashes as well as soft dinks.  I felt extremely confident with this paddle the first time I used it due to the feel in my hand, control, pop off the face and a big sweet spot. I put my other paddle away and have started using this regularly. I would recommend this paddle to anyone who likes a lighter, slightly longer paddle with lots of pop and control. A big thank you to Pickleball Central for providing the demo paddles. This one is a winner, for sure.

PRINCE RESPONSE PADDLE    By Bruce Becker

The Prince Response paddle is a well-balanced composite paddle with 9/16” Polymer honeycomb Core. This light weight 7.7-ounce paddle delivers an exceptional combination of control and power through the unique rounded face shape. The sweet spot is noticeably larger and more consistent than any paddle I've tried. The soft and comfortable handle has a grip size of 4 ¼ and is long enough for those who need the two handed shot. Whether dinking across court or lobbing over your opponents at the kitchen line, this paddle gives the player great control. The larger sweet spot on this paddle helps to direct the placement of any shot which is a key part of the game. This paddle gives the player great control for the third shot drop shot. In a fast paced game, the paddle has incredible power and spin. The combined technology of Paddletek and Prince has resulted in paddles that would improve the skill level of most players. This review has introduced me to a paddle that I may not have tried in the past for various reasons. Since trying it, the paddle has now become the best paddle for my game. I would recommend the Prince Response paddle for those wanting more control and a larger sweet spot. Thanks to Pickleball Central for the opportunity to review the paddle and for providing demo paddles.
